Family outing: Katy Perry and Russell Brand joined Katy's grandmother Ann Hudson for her milestone birthday


She's made no secret of how close she is to her family - so when Katy Perry's grandmother turned 90, there was no way she was going to miss the celebrations.

The chart-topping singer, and her husband Russell Brand, joined Ann Hudson for a party in Las Vegas on Wednesday, to mark the milestone birthday.

And Ann couldn't hide her delight at being surrounded by her family, posing for snaps with both Russell and her granddaughter.

They joined celebrations at the Strip House steak house in Planet Hollywood's Resort and Casino, before Katy and Russell headed to the tables to try their luck at blackjack.

The 26-year-old, wearing a short silver dress from Asos and pink heels, later paid tribute to her grandmother on her Twitter page.

'Happy 90th birthday Grandma Hudson. You're the reason why!' she tweeted.

The singer appeared to be enjoying the chance to relax ahead of the very busy schedule she has for the next few months.

Last week she won two prizes at the People's Choice Awards in Hollywood, being voted favourite female artist and favourite online sensation.

And she has been nominated for four Grammy awards, including Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Album of the Year.

Katy, who has been nominated twice before for the prestigious awards but has yet to win, will also perform at the ceremony on February 13.
