Pregnant: Penelope Cruz, pictured shopping for maternity clothes in Madrid, has landed in London to continue filming Pirates of the Caribbean


Her role as Jack Sparrow's love interest Angelica in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has required her to wear binding corsets, but the wardrobe department will have their work cut out for them when Penelope Cruz arrives back on set.

The Spanish actress landed in London last night to resume filming the Disney franchise alongside co-star Johnny Depp in Greenwich, but her changing shape may prove something of problem.

When they started shooting in Hawaii over the summer, the newly pregnant star's bump was non-existent. But at five months gone, there is no hiding Penelope's growing stomach.

Penelope was pictured shopping for maternity clothes in Madrid last week while on a short break from filming.

Dressed in a casual outfit of jeans tucked into leg warmers and boots, a black jacket and a cardigan that stretched across her stomach, the actress had clearly mastered maternity chic.

And while she stocked up for clothes for her changing shape, it is unlikely the upmarket boutique stocks any corsets or sword holders.

It will be up to the film's wardrobe department to disguise the 36-year-old's bump beneath her swashbuckling style costume.

The film, the fourth in the series, will see the return of Depp as Jack Sparrow, as well as Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa. Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley will not reprise their roles as Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann.

The new storyline focuses on Jack and new character Angelica's relationship as she forces Sparrow aboard Blackbeard’s ship the Queen Anne's Revenge.

Sparrow is uncertain whether Angelica is a con artist who is using him to find the fabled Fountain of Youth.

The cast will be filming in London for six weeks in total after shoots in Hawaii, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico.

Penelope announced she and husband Javier Bardem were expecting last month after the pair married secretly in July in the Bahamas.

The low-profile couple met in 2007 on the set of their film Vicky Christina Barcelona, but never publicly confirmed their relationship until Javier acknowledged her in his acceptance speech at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.

Collecting his award for Best Actor, the 41-year-old Spaniard said: 'I share this joy with my friend, my companion, my love: Penelope. I owe you a lot and I love you so much.'
