Seasons's greetings: Nicole Kidman paid a surprise visit yesterday to young patients at Sydney Children's Hospital
Nicole Kidman has expressed her sadness that the children she adopted with then husband Tom Cruise have chosen to live with him - and wishes they were with her instead.
The 43-year-old actress raised 18-year-old Isabella and Connor, 15, with Mission Impossible star Tom from babies - but they have now decided to live with Cruise, his wife Katie Holmes and their four-year-old daughter Suri.
However, Nicole insisted she wouldn't fight their decision, saying: 'They live with Tom, which was their choice. I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?'
Talking to this week's UK edition of Hello! magazine, she said although she was upset at them spending most of their time with their father in Los Angeles, having a younger child helped lessen the pain.
She admitted: 'It's a beautiful thing at 43 to have a two and half year old!'
However, despite the distance between them, Nicole said she was proud of her elder children, telling Associate Press: 'They are healthy and sane and together and are great, great people. So I'm not one of those people that needs to be reminded of what I have.'

Nicole also revealed that her beautiful toddler Sunday Rose was named after the day of week that she and musician husband Keith Urban most enjoyed spending together.
She explained: 'When we were both alone, before we met each other, Sunday was the day we dreaded most, because when you don't have someone in your life Sundays can be really lonely.
'Then when we met, we went from dreading Sunday to really loving it. It was the day when nobody was going to bother you, you could stay in bed, you could do what you wanted to do. We just thought, What a great name for our baby!'
Demure: The Moulin Rouge star was dressed casually in cream for her hospital visit
Nicole was also showing her motherly side on Monday when she paid a surprise visit to Sydney Children's Hospital.
The Moulin Rouge star dropped by to spend time with 30 poorly young people who will be stuck on wards over Christmas.
Nicole is over in Australia with husband Keith and their daughter to spend the festive season with her family.
The pair were out earlier today to take little Sunday Rose to watch a performance of Charlie and Lola’s Best Bestest Play at the Sydney Opera House.
